Ascomycete yeasts that both ferment and assimilate xylose were reported previously as associates of insects living in woody substrates. Most notable have been reports of Pichia stipitis-like yeasts that are widely associated with the wood-boring beetle, Odontotaenius disjunctus (Coleoptera: Passalidae), in the eastern United States. Our continuing investigation of insect gut yeasts has lead to the discovery of two new xylose-fermenting yeasts that phylogenetic analysis places as sister taxa. The beetle hosts, O. disjunctus and Phrenapates bennetti (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), are similar in habitat and appearance, and the presence of similar gut yeasts is an additional common feature between them. Here we describe the new yeast genus Spathaspora, the type species S. passalidarum, and its sister taxon Candida jeffriesii and discuss their natural history, including a comparison with Pichia stipitis, another member of a guild of xylose-fermenting yeasts with similar metabolic traits. In addition a morphologically distinct yeast ascospore type is described for Spathaspora.  相似文献

通过在河北曲周实验站的田间试验,研究了4种不同土壤培肥措施条件下农田生态系统中几种主要土壤生物随有机物分解的变化规律、有机物的分解及其主要影响因素。研究结果表明:除土壤线虫外,其他几种主要的土壤生物的分布规律基本上是堆肥区〉原貌区〉对照区〉化肥区,与施入的有机物(小麦秸秆)的分解规律一致。在受人为扰动的堆肥区、化肥区和对照区土壤中,细菌占绝对优势,而在未开垦的原貌区中,真菌起着重要作用。 在有机物分解初期,土壤微生物能比较快地迁移到秸秆表面,秸秆表面的生物数量最多的是细菌,随着细菌的数量增加,原生动物数量亦呈现增加趋势,蚯蚓数量增多,而线虫的数量则减少。而有机物分解后期,真菌的数量逐渐减少,蚯蚓的数量也呈下降趋势,有机物的分解速度减慢。通过灰色关联度分析,9种外界因素(生物因素和环境因素)对小麦秸秆分解作用的相对重要程度排序:土壤温度(0.844)〉蚯蚓(0.777)〉真菌(0.764)〉全氮(0.754)〉线虫(0.753)〉有机质(0.742)〉细菌(O.738)〉原生动物(0.693)〉土壤含水量(0.661),其中土壤温度和蚯蚓是影响土壤有机物分解的最重要的两个因素。  相似文献

树叶凋落物在受酸性矿山废水污染溪流中的分解   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
为了解华南地区酸性矿山废水对溪流中树叶分解的影响,在广东省大宝山矿区附近的1条受酸性矿山废水污染(pH值为2.7—3.4且富含多种重金属元素)的3级溪流中,利用2种孔径(5ram的网袋和0.1ram的布袋)的分解网袋对2种树叶(人面子和蒲桃)进行了为期101d的树叶分解研究。结果表明,人面子树叶网袋和布袋中的树叶干重剩余率分别为39%和48%,而蒲桃树叶网袋和布袋中的干重剩余率仍保持较高的水平,分别为61%和70%。根据指数衰减模型计算出树叶分解的半衰期,人面子树叶在网袋和布袋中的分解半衰期分别为57d和69d,而蒲桃树叶则分别为14-4d和217d。蒲桃树叶的分解速率明显比人面子树叶慢。在网袋中定殖的底栖动物主要是集食者,其中优势类群为摇蚊幼虫,占底栖动物个体总数的99%。摇蚊种群在网袋中的数量波动对2种树叶分解速率的影响并不明显。结果表明,受酸性矿山废水的影响,底栖动物群落的多样性大为减少。同时由于各种金属氧化物在树叶表面的不断沉淀,使树叶处于缺氧状态,抑制了微生物的活动,导致树叶分解速率大为降低。  相似文献

采用网袋法研究了杉木和楠木叶凋落物以不同比例的混合分解及其养分动态,结果表明:杉木与楠木叶凋落物混合处理的分解速率和K释放率基本上均大于单独的纯杉木和纯楠木,而N和P释放率则介于单独的纯杉木和纯楠木之间;杉楠混合分解可加快了混合中杉木叶凋落物的分解速率和N、K两元素的释放率,并且随楠木叶比例的增加,促进作用越明显;混合分解对混合处理的分解速率和K元素释放有明显的促进作用,而对N、P元素的释放影响不明显。  相似文献

The response of decomposition of litter for the dominant tree species in disturbed (pine), rehabilitated (pine and broadleaf mixed) and mature (monsoon evergreen broadleaf) forests in subtropical China to simulated N deposition was studied to address the following hypothesis: (1) litter decomposition is faster in mature forest (high soil N availability) than in rehabilitated/disturbed forests (low soil N availability); (2) litter decomposition is stimulated by N addition in rehabilitated and disturbed forests due to their low soil N availability; (3) N addition has little effect on litter decomposition in mature forest due to its high soil N availability. The litterbag method (a total of 2880 litterbags) and N treatments: Control-no N addition, Low-N: −5 g N m−2 y−1, Medium-N: −10 g N m−2 y−1, and High-N: −15 g N m−2 y−1, were employed to evaluate decomposition. Results indicated that mature forest, which has likely been N saturated due to both long-term high N deposition in the region and the age of the ecosystem, had the highest litter decomposition rate, and exhibited no significant positive and even some negative response to nitrogen additions. However, both disturbed and rehabilitated forests, which are still N limited due to previous land use history, exhibited slower litter decomposition rates with significant positive effects from nitrogen additions. These results suggest that litter decomposition and its responses to N addition in subtropical forests of China vary depending on the nitrogen status of the ecosystem.  相似文献

本研究应用网袋法对福建省万木林自然保护区米槠(Castanopsis carlesii)、杉木(Cunninghamia lanceolata)细根在米槠林群落和杉木林群落交叉分解进行了为期2年的研究。结果表明,0-1mm、1-2mm米槠细根在米槠群落比在杉木群落分解速率快,而相同径级杉木细根在两群落分解差异较大。0—1mm杉木细根在杉木群落的分解速率高于米槠群落,而1—2mm杉木细根在杉木群落的分解速率只及米槠群落的48%。米槠、杉木细根在两群落分解的差异表明,群落立地条件对细根分解存在较大的影响。  相似文献

1. Lowland tropical streams have a chemically diverse detrital resource base, where leaf quality could potentially alter the effect of high nutrient concentrations on leaf breakdown. This has important implications given the extent and magnitude of anthropogenic nutrient loading to the environment. 2. Here, we examine if leaf quality (as determined by concentrations of cellulose, lignin and tannins) mediates the effects of high ambient phosphorus (P) concentration on leaf breakdown in streams of lowland Costa Rica. We hypothesised that P would have a stronger effect on microbial and insect processing of high‐ than of low‐quality leaves. 3. We selected three species that represented extremes of quality as measured in leaves of eight common riparian species. Species selected were, from high‐ to low‐quality: Trema integerrima > Castilla elastica > Zygia longifolia. We incubated single‐species leaf packs in five streams that had natural differences in ambient P concentration (10–140 μg soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) L?1), because of variable inputs of solute‐rich groundwater and also in a stream that was experimentally enriched with P (approximately 200 μg SRP L?1). 4. The breakdown rate of all three species varied among the six streams: T. integerrima (k‐values range: 0.0451–0.129 day?1); C. elastica (k‐values range: 0.0064–0.021 day?1); and Z. longifolia (k‐values range: 0.002–0.008 day?1). Both ambient P concentration and flow velocity had significant effects on the breakdown rate of the three species. 5. Results supported our initial hypothesis that litter quality mediates the effect of high ambient P concentration on leaf processing by microbes and insects. The response of microbial respiration, fungal biomass and invertebrate density to high ambient P concentration was greater in Trema (high quality) than in Castilla or Zygia (low quality). Variation in flow velocity, however, confounded our ability to determine the magnitude of stimulation of breakdown rate by P. 6. Cellulose and lignin appeared to be the most important factors in determining the magnitude of P‐stimulation. Surprisingly, leaf secondary compounds did not have an effect. This contradicts predictions made by other researchers, regarding the key role of plant secondary compounds in affecting leaf breakdown in tropical streams.  相似文献

The current study presents phenology data for Rhizophora mangle from two equatorial mangrove stands with different salinity regimes in Brazil. Observations based on litter fall and individual shoot development were compared and related to environmental factors. Patterns observed in litter fall were consistent with results of direct monitoring. While both reproductive organs and leaves were produced throughout the year, rates of formation followed seasonal trends. Distinct differences in propagule production between low and high salinity sites and between years of observation were detected; main propagule release was, however, restricted to the wet season which offers enhanced conditions for propagule establishment. Emergence of flowers was linked to leaf production. While there was no obvious single peak in leaf production, it was reduced towards the end of the dry season at both high and low salinity sites. Time series analysis revealed an independent pattern of leaf development superimposed on this annual seasonal trend, indicating slower development of leaf primordia during periods of low light availability in the wet season. No significant difference in age structure was detected between sun and shade leaves; maximum leaf life-time was approximately 1 year.  相似文献

Summary

Breakdown of unconfined and confined leaves of the riparian tree Brabejum stellatifolium L. was investigated in two low order mountain streams (Window Stream and Langrivier) in the southwestern Cape, South Africa. At both sites, 5000 unconfined leaves were released in April and another 5000 in December 1990. The leaves were marked and half of them presoaked in river water prior to release. Leaves reaching a net 100 m below the point of release were removed periodically. On termination of the experiments, the study reaches were cleared of the remaining marked leaves. The distance which these leaves had travelled, and the retentive feature at which they were found were recorded. All leaves were weighed after recovery. In December 1990, leaves confined in coarse-mesh bags were placed on the stream beds of the two sites. Decay rates of unconfined leaves differed between streams and seasons but not between wetted and dry leaves or those of contrasting initial size and weight. In winter, breakdown of unconfined leaves was rapid (t50 of 6.6d and 23.9d for Langrivier and Window Stream respectively). In summer, breakdown of unconfined leaves was slower (t50 of 58d, Langrivier), but more rapid than leaves confined in mesh bags (t50 of 77d, Langrivier). Distance travelled downstream had no significant effect on leaf breakdown. Different retentive features resulted in different rates of decay. Leaf weight loss in winter and summer at both sites was greatest in riffles (17–80%) and runs (21–78%). In all cases, stranded (exposed and out of the water) leaves lost the least weight (4–38%).  相似文献

Abstract

This paper presents an approach and a software, BetaDock, to the docking problem by putting the priority on shape complementarity between a receptor and a ligand. The approach is based on the theory of the β-complex. Given the Voronoi diagram of the receptor whose topology is stored in the quasi-triangulation, the β-complex corresponding to water molecule is computed. Then, the boundary of the β-complex defines the β-shape which has the complete proximity information among all atoms on the receptor boundary. From the β-shape, we first compute pockets where the ligand may bind. Then, we quickly place the ligand within each pocket by solving the singular value decomposition problem and the assignment problem. Using the conformations of the ligands within the pockets as the initial solutions, we run the genetic algorithm to find the optimal solution for the docking problem. The performance of the proposed algorithm was verified through a benchmark test and showed that BetaDock is superior to a popular docking software AutoDock 4.  相似文献
